…this was their finest hour.

Seventy five years on from September 15th 1940, Battle of Britain Day 2015. Design Inc would like to salute the heroic efforts of the ‘few’ in repelling the German Luftwaffe attacks, acts that inspired the affecting words from Winston Churchill that instill so much pride and have become such a deep part of our national identity.

With this blog, along with the heroes (pilots, aircrew and mechanics) of the RAF, AAC, FAA, RAAF, RCAF, WRAF and ATA, ATS and pilots from other allied countries – all of whom paid their part. We would also like to salute one of our design heroes – David Gentleman – and feature his iconic illustration-based work on the outstanding Battle of Britain stamps from 1965. David is well known for his London Transport posters, Penguin book jacket designs, commemorative stamps as well as his watercolours.

The business aviation show NGAD also takes place at Biggin Hill this 15th September and at the close of business the anniversary will be marked by a flypast of historic aircraft. Best wishes to the show’s organisers and all those participating and attending on the day.
