Helix is a leading provider of high performance electric motors. As part of a full rebranding exercise, Design Inc were commissioned to create a series of short, animated videos which would appear on their exhibition stands globally.

The brief

Since rebranding as a high performance electric motor manufacturer, Helix has made good use of video and animation as website and social media content and in experiential settings both on and off-site. Design Inc has provided marketing strategy, messaging, storyboard development and editing of these assets.

The client had requested to have the repositioned brand launched so as to demonstrate the innovation at the core of the motor product ranges. Furthermore to simulate the new diversified sector applications as well as providing a  showcase of the 25 Years Open House and generally put Helix’s world in motion.

The approach

Using an optimised combination of new footage (including interviews and drone sequences), royalty free and repurposed footage integrated with new brand graphics and CGI animations we have brought the new brand narrative, proposition and positioning to life in a number of short and engaging movies.

When Helix take the show on the road to flagship international events in the UK, Europe and the USA, their expo stands include sector-focused films to draw visitors to their stands and presentations. These are tailored using core company and technology elements coupled with sector specific application and aspirational footage.

The outcome

Our videography employs the new Helix tone of voice for captions, brand style icons and titles. We have selected stock applications footage that inspires and brings an emotional connection to the possibilities enabled through high performance electric powertrain advantage.

Using Helix’s supplied CAD files, we have realistically rendered and animated fly around and cutaway sequences to demonstrate how the motors and inverters give vehicle designers optimum flexibility in form factor.

We have also devised dynamic animations for the Helix and X-Division logos, 25 Years and 1st Birthday Celebrations. A number of visitor orientation and production explainer videos were looped on strategically sited screens around the new purpose-built technical facility during the client and media tours held recently as part of the 25 Years celebrations Open House days.

Using a branded modular approach to storyboards and production, we are able to create cost-effective new edits at short notice and these individual segments can also be used on social media channels too. Adding soundtrack or voiceover can augment the production values for some uses making the viewing more immersive.
