As exhibition marketing specialists, we were pleased to hear the following words: “The 2014 Subsea Expo event has surpassed all expectations. We have attracted more delegates, more international visitors, more exhibitors, more speakers and more young people than ever before, underlining the importance of our sector to the UK and to the global oil and gas industry.”
So said Neil Gordon, Chief Executive of Subsea UK, the show’s organisers. And, one of Design Inc’s clients.

This month has seen the culmination of 6 months solid exhibition marketing work for Design Incorporated with the opening of the landmark tenth anniversary Subsea Expo show at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre. With a continuous year on year growth in visitor numbers and exhibitors the show more than ever reflects the contribution made by subsea engineering to the UK economy and exports. One decade on and  Subsea Expo has become Europe’s largest subsea exhibition. So it was time for a new brand, a new website, a new look for the registration and seminar areas, the show guide all heralding a major milestone and beginning of a new era. This year’s show welcomed over 5,000 visitors to 300 stands, having now grown from 200 delegates and 40 exhibitors attending the first show in 2004.

The UK subsea market is now worth almost £9 billion and this event has demonstrated exactly why the UK’s supply chain is envied around the world. UK technology, expertise and experience are unparalleled and Subsea Expo provides a platform for showcasing this. The feedback has been tremendously positive with many companies reporting strong levels of new business that will ensure that the sector is well on its way to capturing the forecasted £11 billion, a third of the global market-share, by 2016.

Design Inc has enjoyed a flourishing relationship with the subsea sector and wider engineering and energy industries. We have also enjoyed long strategic partnerships with some of the established key players and rising stars in the sector.

Year         Exhibitors          Visitors
2004               40                     200
2014              180                  5,000

The annual Subsea UK Business Awards were also held during the evening of the first day of the show. The sold-out gala dinner brought together over 800 people eager to see this year’s prestigious winners revealed and hear from guest speaker Richard Noble, OBE. Noble brought the World Land Speed Record back to Britain in 1983 through his Thrust programme and in 1997, broke both the speed and sound barriers with his Thrust 2 supersonic car.

Award winners on the night included:
Expro Group – Global Exports
ROVOP – New Enterprise
Viper Subsea – New Enterprise
Photosynergy – Innovation for Safety
Bibby Offshore – Company of the Year
